2017 Porsche 911 GTS Targa spied

The facelifted Porsche 911 GTS Targa has been spied outside the Nurburgring without camouflage.

Visually, the new GTS is distinguished by a restyled front bumper with larger air intakes, while out the back there's two centrally-mounted exhaust tips and a revised rear diffuser-style element.

As with other members of the updated '991.2' Porsche 911 range — except the GT3 and R — the new GTS will be powered by a variant of the company's 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged horizontally-opposed six-cylinder engine.

This prototype is riding on Pirelli P-Zero 305/30 tyres at the back and 245/35 rubber at the front, which are allied with blacked out 20-inch central-locking alloy wheels at each corner.

Stopping power at the both ends comes courtesy of cross-drilled disc brakes fitted with large yellow callipers.

As before, the new GTS will likely be offered in coupe, convertible and targa body styles.

The 911's seven-speed manual should be standard, with the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission an optional extra. GTS buyers will also be able to choose between rear- and all-wheel drive.

The revised Porsche 911 GTS is likely to make its debut before 2016 is out.
