2017 Jaguar F-Type spied with four-cylinder engine

Our spy photographers have snapped another prototype of the upcoming Jaguar F-Type facelift on the streets around the Nurburgring.

At first glance, this vehicle doesn't look particularly different to the one we published two days ago. Externally the differences seem to extend to missing Jaguar and S badges, and different alloy wheels.

Look a little closer and you'll notice that this car persists with projector-style headlights, whereas the earlier prototype had new LED units. This vehicle also has a single rectangular central exhaust outlet out the back.

The front bumper and grille are also subtly different, and it looks as though the retractable rear spoiler is missing too.

A quick search on the UK's motor registry website reveals that the earlier prototype was powered by a 3.0-litre engine. This car, on the other hand, has a 2.0-litre mill under the hood.

Given the high level of drivetrain commonality across the Jaguar and Land Rover lineups, it seems likely that Jaguar is preparing an entry-level F-Type that will utilise the soon-to-go-into-production turbocharged Ingenium 2.0-litre petrol engine.

The new four-cylinder model will be a part of the facelifted F-Type range, which rumours indicate will debut in early 2017. Australian sales probably won't begin until the second half of 2017.
