Australian pricing and specifications for the new Mercedes-AMG C63 S coupe have again been detailed, following the launch this week of the regular C-Class coupe range.
Like its sedan and wagon counterparts, Mercedes in Australia has again skipped the regular C63 and opted to exclusively offer the C63 S coupe, which is more powerful and better-equipped than the standard version offered in other markets.
Priced from $162,400 plus on-road costs, the C63 S coupe joins the C63 S sedan and wagon, and will take on the likes of the BMW M4 and Lexus RC F. A cabriolet variant is expected to complete the range at the end of the year.
Commanding a $7890 premium of the four-door, the C63 S coupe rides on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear alloy wheels, a combination not offered with the sedan or wagon variants.
The C63 S coupe also features AMG engine mounts, performance exhaust, full-LED headlights with adaptive highbeam assist, TV tuner, head-up display (HUD) panoramic sunroof and an electronic differential.
Power is fed to the rear wheels by the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 found in the sedan and wagon, producing 375kW of power and 700Nm of torque.
The coupe is also the quickest C63 variant from 0-100km/h, claiming a 3.9-second sprint – 0.1 seconds quicker than the sedan. Fuel economy is rated at 8.7L/100km.
Customers wanting to make their new C63 S coupe even more special can opt for the $10,900 Edition 1 package, which includes AMG carbon-ceramic brakes along with niceties such as yellow-stitched nappa leather throughout the cabin, matte carbon-fibre trim, matte grey paint, yellow-fringed black alloy wheels, yellow accents for the instrument cluster and yellow AMG decals scattered around the exterior. It’s very yellow.
