2016 Opel Meriva spied again, interior shown in new shots

The next-generation Opel Meriva has been spied again. This time, however, photographers have managed to get a peep inside the new people-mover’s cabin.

While the Meriva is currently a European-market offering, Holden has committed to having a third of its future model line-up sourced from German sister brand Opel. This could see the next Meriva hit Australian showrooms in the not-too-distant future.

First spied last September, the new Meriva is likely to move away from the traditional people-mover look, joining the Renault Scenic and Peugeot 3008 in adopting a subtle crossover look.

That will surprise few, with the new Meriva expected to ride on the same platform that will underpin the new 3008 and the related Citroen C3 Picasso.

Although not much is revealed in these photos, it looks like the next Meriva will feature a large central touchscreen, and a multi-information display between the speedo and tacho dials.

It has previously been reported that the next-generation Meriva, Peugeot 3008 and Citroen C3 Picasso will be produced by GM at its Zaragoza factory in Spain from sometime in 2016.

Australia

Although Holden has previously said one third of its future models will be sourced from Opel, slumping sales of small MPVs like the Kia Rondo suggest the Meriva is unlikely to be a candidate for the Australian market.
