2016 Isuzu D-MAX AT35 unveiled:: ready to tackle the Arctic, but not Australia
Arctic Trucks and Isuzu's UK arm have teamed up to create the Isuzu D-Max AT35, a ute that's been toughened up for some serious off-road work.
The AT35 rides on 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with huge 35-inch 315/70 Nokian Rotiiva AT off-road tyres. The suspension setup has been thoroughly reworked and includes high performance Fox shock absorbers.
To house the upgraded wheel and tyre combo, the AT35 features massive wheel arch flares. According to its creators, the AT35 has a ride height that 125mm higher than regular D-Max utes, as well as improved approach, departure and break-over angles.
Despite the modifications, the AT35 is rated to carry a tonne of cargo and tow 3.5 tonnes via a braked trailer. The D-Max AT35 uses the same 120kW/400Nm 2.5-litre twin-turbo diesel engine as regular D-Max utes in the UK.
Options include a 27 LED square work light, ARB inflator, an emergency inflation kit, satellite navigation system, reversing camera, and bash plates that protect the radiator, engine and transmission.
Arctic Trucks started life in 1990 as, essentially, the off-road tuning division of Toyota's Iceland importer. The company was spun off from the mothership in 2005, and rose to prominence when it prepared the Toyota HiLux used by Top Gear to trek to the magnetic north pole.

If you like the sound of the AT35's specs, we've got bad news, it's a UK only proposition at the moment. If you're a UK resident, though, you're in luck, as the D-Max AT35 will be officially sold in both dual-cab and extended-cab forms through Isuzu's dealership network.
