As with many models of its type, the XFL is largely identical to the standard XF, with the exception of the increased length and stretched rear doors.
Developed exclusively for China, the long wheelbase XFL features 157mm more legroom and 116mm more kneeroom than the standard wheelbase XF.
The XFL also debuts several technologies new to Jaguar, including an air ionisation system that improves cabin air quality, along with Clear Exit Detection which warns rear seat occupants of approaching traffic when opening the doors.
Another first from the XFL is that is the first Jag to be produced at the Chery Jaguar Land Rover manufacturing plant in Changshu. The XFL is also the first Jaguar to be manufactured in China.
Inside, the XFL is fully kitted out, with luxuries including a 12.3-inch virtual instrument cluster, 10.2-inch central infotainment screen, rear-seat entertainment system, Wi-Fi hotspot for up to eight devices, folding rear tables, heated and cooled rear seats with massage function, four-way lumbar adjustment and electric side window blinds - the list goes on.
You’d be forgiven for mistaking the XFL’s equipment list for that of a car from the class above (think XJ, 7 Series, S-Class), which also includes a 17-speaker Meridian surround sound system, full-LED headlights and a laser head-up display.
The XFL comes with an expansive suite of safety equipment as well, adding to the already long list of features with the addition of autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with queue-assist, lane keep assistance, reverse traffic detection and park-assist.
The XFL range will be similar to that of the standard XF, consisting of XFL Pure, Prestige, Prestige Lux, Prestige Lux+ and Portfolio variants.
The engine range is not as extensive, with powertrain options including a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol in two states of tune, and the company’s 3.0-litre supercharged V6.
All variants are rear-wheel drive and mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.
Along with other stretched models such as the BMW X1 Li and Mercedes-Benz E-Class L, the Jaguar XFL will only be sold in China.
