Citroen C6 debuts at Beijing motor show

The resurrected Citroen C6 has made its first public appearance at the 2016 Beijing motor show this week.

After the first images of the second-generation C6 surfaced online a fortnight ago, Citroen's new flagship sedan has been officially presented to the public.

Positioned as a China-only flagship model, the new C6 is the product of the collaboration between the French brand and its Chinese partner, Dongfeng.

A partnership so close, in fact, that the C6 is essentially a reskinned version of Dongfeng’s Fengshen A9 sedan with a more premium interior.

Differing from the original C6 that ended production in 2012, the new car wears a far more conventional design than the eccentric look of the first-generation.

Citroen’s new large sedan rides on PSA’s EMP2 platform, measuring over five metres long with a 2.9-metre wheelbase - credit to China’s increasing demand for long-wheelbase vehicles.

In the cabin, the C6 features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a large central touchscreen, nappa leather upholstery, wood trim highlights, panoramic roof and four-zone climate control.

Full specifications of the new flagship sedan are still yet to be released but it is believed that the new C6 will be powered by a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing around 150kW, sent to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.

Being a China-only model, don’t expect to see the new Citroen C6 on Australian roads anytime soon.
