2010 Hyundai ix35 recalled for automatic transmission hose issue

Hyundai has issued a recall for 1100 of its ix35 SUVs over fears an automatic transmission oil cooler hose may not have been manufactured to the correct specifications.

According to the South Korean car maker, prolonged use can lead to fluid leakage which may cause a mechanical failure of the transmission.

Should this occur, the driver may lose control of the vehicle, increasing the chance of a collision and injury to occupants and other road users.

The recall affects ix35s built between 1 July 2010 and 31 October 2010 and the vehicles will fall within a VIN range of KMHJX81XXXU143210 and KMHJX81XXXU202440.

Hyundai says it has received no reports of an incident resulting from the defect.

Owners of affected vehicles are advised to return the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership for a replacement oil cooler hose.
