Land Rover suspends development of seven-seat LR2

Land Rover has suspended plans for a seven-seat version of its LR2, a project being developed under the codename L486, as the marque draws focus on other more pressing projects, such as the LRX crossover.

The L486 program, which had been running for just over a year, was being used to develop a long-wheelbase version of the current LR2 - a model that was set to debut in mid-2010 - to be named the LR3.

But with the recent name change of the Land Rover Discovery to 'LR4', the seven-seater's name is now in limbo, and although the project has not yet been officially cancelled, the move does show a change is in the air at Land Rover with a few surprises no doubt coming soon.
