2016 Audi RS6 and RS7 Performance pricing and specifications

Need more performance with your performance car? Audi has come to the rescue by launching replacements for its current RS6 and RS7 models, aptly named the RS6 Performance and RS7 Performance.

The 2016 Audi RS6 Performance and 2016 Audi RS7 Performance variants launch in Australia this week with higher power and torque, and larger price tags.

Both models have increased power outputs from their 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engines. Now producing 445kW of power  (up 33kW) and 700Nm of torque (or 750Nm thanks to a new overboost feature available between 2500-5500rpm), the performance twins are also quicker from standstill to 100km/h, clocking the dash in just 3.7 seconds.

Fuel consumption has increased slightly, by 0.1L/100km each, with the RS6 Performance now consuming 9.7L/100km and the RS7 9.6L/100km.

Pricing now sits at $245,400 and $258,000 before on-road costs respectively for the RS6 and (20kg lighter) RS7 Performance. That represents a price increase of $16,290 for the RS6 Performance and $16,390 for the RS7 Performance.

With the Performance variants now replacing their non-Performance counterparts, Audi has changed the offering slightly.

Standard features across both models include: RS adaptive air suspension, digital TV reception with DAB+ digital radio, quattro sports differential, sports exhaust, heads up display, front and rear parking sensors with 360 degree camera, panoramic glass sunroof (panoramic glass only on RS6 Performance), RS leather-clad steering wheel, matrix LED headlights and electrically operated tailgate with gesture control.

Exterior changes include a titanium-look exterior finish with accents across the single frame grille, front spoiler and air intake changes, new mirror caps, window surrounds and rear diffuser. There are also a new set of 21-inch alloy wheels to finish off the design changes.

Notable options include several styling packages and two handling packages. The Dynamic Package ($4900) adds dynamic steering, an RS sports suspension (which removes air suspension and adds a diagonal hydraulic link between the front and rear dampers) and increases the maximum speed to 280km/h.

The Dynamic Package Plus ($25,840) steps things up a notch with the contents of the Dynamic Package, but also the inclusion of carbon ceramic brakes and an increase to the vehicle's top-speed (305km/h).

Buyers can also option night vision ($4890) and a 15-speaker Bang and Olufsen 1200W sound system ($12,000).
