Aston Martin Vulcan:: Southern Hemisphere’s first delivery hits New Zealand

The first Aston Martin Vulcan to be delivered in the southern hemisphere has taken residence at New Zealand’s Highlands Motorsport Park.

One of only 24 Vulcans sold worldwide, the track-only hypercar is the only one of its kind south of the equator. Aston says it is the highest-value production car to be sold in New Zealand, at a cool $4.2 million NZD ($3.8 million).

Making its debut at the Geneva motor show earlier this year, the Vulcan is one of the wildest vehicles to ever wear the Aston Martin badge, with its huge rear wing, racing bodykit and 7.0-litre V12 under the bonnet, producing more than 597kW (800hp).

Blending Aston Martin’s motorsport experience and road car expertise, the Vulcan demonstrates design flair while being engineered exclusively for extreme track performance.

Delivered to Highlands Motorsport Park, the very exclusive Vulcan was unveiled to the New Zealand public with a maiden voyage around its track.

The complex also offered 10 exclusive Aston Martin Vulcan hot-lap experiences as part of the launch, with two rides donated to the Halberg Trust and a local fundraiser for a family who lost their father in a helicopter accident.

In addition, $1000 from each of the tickets was donated to the Cure Kids and Relay for Life charities.

Highlands Motorsport Park owner Tony Quinn said that taking delivery of the Vulcan at New Zealand’s home of motorsport was a special moment.

“As Highlands celebrates its third birthday this month, we are thrilled to welcome the Highlands Vulcan to the family,” he said.

“I have an immense amount of respect for the heritage of motorsport in New Zealand, and I think that it is a fitting tribute that New Zealand will be home to an Aston Martin Vulcan.

“Highlands is all about providing out-of-the box experiences for everyday people,” he added.

Aston Martin’s regional director for Asia Pacific, Patrik Nilsson, said “The Aston Martin Vulcan is our most exhilarating creation to date, and witnessing it come to life on-track is an unforgettable experience.

“We are elated to see this stunning example of engineering prowess arrive at Highlands Motorsport Park, the first delivery of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere,” he added.

The Highlands Aston Martin Vulcan is on display for the public to see at the Highlands National Motorsport Museum until September 2016.
