Skoda Superb, Yeti and Volkswagen Tiguan recalled in Australia
The recently-launched 2016 Skoda Superb, its small Yeti stablemate and the current-generation Volkswagen Tiguan have been recalled in Australia this week.
The Superb's recall centres on a fault with the sunroof, while the Yeti and Tiguan have both been called in over an airbag issue.
The Skoda recall involves the new 2016 Superb Wagon, which could have a faulty sunroof, the same issue affecting the Volkswagen Passat recall from last week.
In the recall notice, Skoda reports that the specified limits of the sunroof’s roll-back function may be exceeded when being operated remotely.
When closing the sunroof using the remote key, the sunroof may not recognise any obstacles obstructing its path, and could therefore crush anything that may be caught in the sunroof, people’s limbs for example.
Affected owners will be contacted by mail, and can also contact their local Skoda service centre or contact Skoda customer care on 1800 504 076.
Volkswagen Australia is also recalling a handful of vehicles from its Tiguan SUV and Skoda Yeti lines over concerns that the side airbags may deploy abnormally during an accident.
The German manufacturer reports that if the airbags deploy abnormally there is a risk of injury to occupants.
Owners of the affected Tiguan and Yeti models will be contacted by mail. Customers can contact their local Volkswagen service centre or Volkswagen customer care on 1800 504 076.
