Bugatti willing to consider sedan and electrification, but not an SUV

The CEO of Bugatti has said that the brand is open to the idea of a sedan or an electrified vehicle, but that an SUV is strictly off the table.

Wolfgang Duerheimer, CEO and chairman of Bugatti, told Bloomberg at the recent Geneva motor show that he "can't get the idea for a [Bugatti] four-door limousine out of my head" and that it's one of the options that the company will look at when planning out future models.

The company displayed the Galibier concept (above and below) back in 2009, but in 2014 decided against proceeding with the project.

Bugatti's boss also stated that the brand is open to the idea of electrifying future drivetrains. The company decided not to make the, recently unveiled, Chiron hypercar a hybrid because of weight issues.

The Chiron, like the Veyron that it succeeds, is powered by a quad-turbo 8.0-litre W16 engine hooked up to an all-wheel drive system. The Chiron boasts a total 1103kW of power and 1600Nm of torque, and has a dry weight of 1995 kilograms.

Equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Chiron has a 0-100km/h time of under 2.5 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 420km/h.

When the business publication probed Duerheimer about the possibility of a Bugatti SUV, his answer was a simple no.
