Subaru Impreza and XV recalled for starter motor fix

Subaru Australia has issued a recall for 5369 vehicles in its 2015 Impreza small car and XV compact SUV lines.

The Japanese car maker reports that affected vehicles may have damaged starter motor pinion gears, due to an “unusual start-up procedure".

This fault may cause the engine to not start, or to restart when using the vehicle’s Automatic Stop Start system.

This in turn could pose a potential hazard to drivers and other road users, should the car fail to restart in traffic or similar situations.

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by mail as soon as parts are available, and are encouraged to present their vehicle to their preferred Subaru Retailer.

The recall repair work will be provided at no charge.

For more information on the recall, owners can contact Subaru Australia on 1800 226 643.
