2017 Holden Colorado caught on camera – UPDATE

Here we have what is claimed to be the first glimpse of the 2017 Holden Colorado's front-end styling. Dramatic change, right?

The image was posted to Thai site MZCrazyCars, and going on the bad photoshop effort it appears to have come straight from the production line (hard cropping and blank background indicate that the car's surrounds were sensitive...).

Other publications around the world have published spy images of the new-look Holden Colorado, and based on those pictures, the above shot looks legitimate.

Clearly there are big styling changes when compared with the current model (pictured below), with the main changes occurring around and below the headlights.

There is a more SUV-like bumper with integrated driving/fog lights, as well as a softer looking lower bumper valance. The headlights themselves have seen big changes, too, as has the grille.

The new look isn't perhaps as cohesive as the front-end design of the Chevrolet Colorado model sold in the US (pictured below), but it certainly appears a little more distinctive.

It's currently unclear if there are any other changes being made to the Colorado, though interior revisions are likely. It is expected that the current 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine will remain.

Update: Holden's product communications manager, Mark Flintoft, wouldn't be drawn to comment too specifically on the image.

"Holden has some exciting plans for Colorado, however we have nothing to announce at this time," Flintoft said.

"Holden will leverage GM’s global product portfolio to introduce an influx of new products by 2020 to create the best and most comprehensive line-up in the company’s history," he said.

When the new-look Holden Colorado will arrive in Australia is another question. It wasn't on the list of new Holden models due here in 2016 that we discussed with the brand late last year - but who knows, we could see some action on the Holden ute front before the end of this year.

The Colorado sold reasonably well in 2015, but fell behind the likes of the Mitsubishi Triton, Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux.
