2017 Aston Martin DB11 unveiled in Geneva

After a constant stream of leaks, the Aston Martin DB11 has finally made its official debut at the 2016 Geneva motor show.

Under the DB11's long bonnet is a 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 petrol engine boasting 447kW of power and 700Nm of torque. This new engine drives the rear wheels via a rear-mounted eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission and a mechanical limited-slip differential with active torque vectoring.

Built on a new bonded aluminium platform with a mix of aluminium and composite panels, the DB11 has a dry weight of 1770 kilograms and a front to rear weight distribution of 51:49.

Aston Martin claims that the DB11 can finish off the 0-100km/h standard in 3.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 322km/h or 200mph neat.

Measuring 4739mm long, 1940mm wide, 1279mm tall, and riding on a 2805mm wheelbase, the new DB11 is 30mm longer, 60mm wider, 9mm taller, and rides on 62mm longer wheelbase than the outgoing DB9.

Stylistically, the DB11 marks a clear break from Aston Martin's recent past, with much more dramatic surfacing and a lot more aggression than before.

The interior features faux suede headlining and a rich array of leather surfaces, which can be optionally embroidered, quilted, brogued and customised.

In the centre of the dashboard there's an 8.0-inch screen connected to a standard 400W sound system, while ahead of the driver there's a 12.0-inch display in the instrument cluster with a framed off section for the speedometer.

As you'd expect there are plenty of options on the menu, including a two-tone interior, heavy pile carpets, different alloy wheel designs, an anodised or gloss black roof strake, a 700W premium sound system or a 1000W Bang & Olufsen audio system, ISOFIX child seat mounting points, and a wide range of other personalisation options.

The DB11 rides on 20-inch cast flow formed alloy wheels paired with 255/45 Bridgestone S007 tyres up front and 295/35 rubber at the rear.

Stopping power comes courtesy of 400mm cast iron disc brakes with six-piston monobloc callipers at the front, and 360mm discs at the rear with four-piston callipers.

In key overseas markets, the Aston Martin DB11 will begin arriving in showrooms from the fourth quarter of 2016. The new coupe will most likely arrive in Australia some time during 2017.
