2017 Bentley Continental GT spied testing

The third generation 2017 Bentley Continental GT coupe has been spotted testing in Europe this week, marking its first appearance in the wild.

As expected, the new GT looks set to draw its styling inspiration from last year's EXP 10 Speed 6 concept, which is itself expected to debut as an even more hardcore coupe in the future.

Despite those similarities, the 2017 Continental GT seen here is clearly a larger offering, and it is already known that its platform will be based on the same MSB architecture underpinning the forthcoming 2017 Porsche Panamera.

This will enable the British luxury brand to leverage Porsche's hybrid powertrain development, as well as its own traditional V8 and W12 engines.

The current Continental range was launched in 2010 and is offered in both coupe and convertible body styles. We expect the third-generation car will follow suit.

Watch for the new Continental GT to be followed onto the market by a production version of the EXP 10 Speed 6, which Bentley boss Wolfgang Duerheimer has described as a “fairly aggressive, state-of-the-art sports car”.

Speaking with The Detroit Bureau last year, Duerheimer said that a model like the EXP 10 would "make a different company out of Bentley Motors".
