2017 Audi RS3 sedan revealed at private function

The Audi RS3 sedan has been leaked online, ahead of its possible debut at the Geneva motor show, which kicks off at the end of February.

The images seen here were initially posted by user MercMilan06 on Instagram with the caption "New Audi RS3 sedan [winky face]". Once these images were published by WorldCarFans, they taken down from Instagram and the account was made private.

These photos seem to be of presentation slides shown at an invite-only Audi function, most likely the Audi Summit event that we reported on yesterday.

If this is indeed a sneak peak at the production RS3 sedan, it gives us our first clear look at not only the range-topping A3 sedan, but also a glimpse of the facelifted A3 range.

As we've inferred through earlier spy photos, the A3 facelift will incorporate new headlights patterned on those used on the latest-generation A4. These new units flank a redesigned single frame grille, which features sharper, more clearly defined edges.

It's expected that the new RS3 sedan will use a version of the company's 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder engine. In the existing RS3 Sportback five-door hatch, this mill develops 270kW of power and 465Nm of torque, and is good for a 0-100km/h time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 280km/h.

The five-cylinder engine is coupled exclusively to the company's Quattro all-wheel drive system and a seven-speed dual-clutch automated transmission.
