2016 Holden Spark pricing and specifications: $13,990 hatch lands in April

The all-new 2016 Holden Spark will hit Australia in April with a starting price of $13,990 plus on-road costs, the lion brand has confirmed today.

Revealed first as the overseas Chevrolet Spark in April last year, the Spark was quickly confirmed as a replacement for the local Barina Spark model.

February this year brought the first photos and details of the 2016 Holden Spark in its local form, including confirmation that buyers can expect to see the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity platforms featured as standard across the range.

Holden has also previously confirmed a 73kW/128Nm 1.4-litre petrol engine for the Spark, replacing the 59kW/107Nm 1.2-litre unit offered with the outgoing Barina Spark.

Likewise, the Spark has benefited from a local steering and suspension tuning program, developed by Holden both here and at the model’s production base in South Korea.

The 2016 Holden Spark will be offered in two trim grades: entry-level LS and top-shelf LT.

Both will feature the same engine, but, while the LS will be offered with the choice of a five-speed manual and a CVT automatic transmission, the LT will get the CVT auto exclusively.

A Driver Assistance Pack will also be offered with LS, adding Rear Park Assist, a rear-view camera and cruise control. A price for that pack will be confirmed closer to launch.

Standard available colours will include Summit White, Solar Red and Fresh Lime Green, while $550 ‘prestige paint’ options will include Carbon Flash Black, Nitrate silver, Splash metallic blue and Mystic Violet.

The new Spark will compete with the likes of the Mitsubishi Mirage, Nissan Micra and Suzuki Celerio in Australia’s sub-$15,000 micro segment.
