2017 Ford Focus mule spy photos

A mule for the next-generation Ford Focus has been spied by our photographers in the snow covered land that is northern Sweden.

While the chassis and running gear may be from Ford's next-generation Focus, this mule, named after the recently departed lead singer of Motorhead, offers no clues as to the design of the company's important world car.

Thanks to the splice down the centre of the bonnet, as well as the ill-fitting roof and front and rear windscreens, we can infer that the new Focus will marginally wider than today's model.

Adjustments and stretch marks on the rear fenders indicate that the next-gen car will also be a little longer too.

Timing for the new Focus has yet to be confirmed, but given that the current car made its debut in 2010, a 2017 or 2018 launch seems likely.

As with the current car, the new Focus should be available in both sedan and hatchback body styles. A wagon likely to be offered for the European market.

Ford factories around the world, including those in Europe, North America, Asia and South America, will be progressively geared up to produce the new car.
