2016 Iveco Daily pricing and specifications

The Iveco Daily van and cab-chassis models have been updated for 2016, with extra safety equipment and different body styles now on offer.

Iveco – which is better known for its trucks than it is for its commercial vans – offers the Daily model in its ranks as an alternative to the likes of the Ford Transit, Fiat Ducato, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Renault Master.

As with those aforementioned, better-known models, the Iveco Daily has a complex and somewhat confusing model range consisting of vans, cab-chassis single-cab and dual-cab variants.

Depending on the version you choose, there are three engines available in the Daily range: a 2.3-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel (with 93kW and 320Nm), a 3.0-litre turbo diesel (with 125kW/430Nm) and a 3.0-litre twin-turbo diesel (150kW/470Nm).

Interestingly, that latter twin-turbo diesel can be had as a $2000 option with every van model, which, in the smallest of the van bodies listed below, would make for a mighty offering.

The Iveco Daily van range consists of the 35S13 version – available in 7.3 cubic metre, 9.0m3, 10.8m3, 12.0m3, 16.0m3 and 18.0m3 sizes – which is available with the 2.3- or the 3.0-litre engine. This version has two heights available, 2200 millimetres or 2580mm, and the wheelbase and length of the van varies depending on the capacity chosen.

The 50C17 van comes in the following capacity sizes: 9.0m3, 10.8m3, 12.0m3, 16.0m3, 18.0m3 and 20.0m3. It can be had with a 3.0-litre in single- or twin-turbo layout, and also has two roof heights on offer – 2700mm or 2900mm – and single or twin rear hubs.

The 35S13 has a fixed 3800kg GVM, while the 50C17 can be had in 4495kg or optional 5200kg forms. The higher GVM adds a dual rear-wheel layout.

The van models are priced closely to rivals such as the Sprinter, with the smallest Daily starting from $56,554 plus on-road costs. The dearest model in the van line-up is the 20m3 version, at $69,330 plus on-roads.

The cab-chassis versions include three single-cab models – the 45C17 ($48,843) and 50C17 ($53,605) models have a 3.0-litre turbo diesel; and the 70C17 ($60,345) gets a twin-turbo diesel. Then there are the dual-cab-chassis models, including the single-turbo diesel 50C17 ($67,516) and the twin-turbo version ($69,552).

A six-speed manual is standard, but the talking point for the Daily range is the eight-speed automatic gearbox, which costs $3895.

Electronic stability control is standard on all models ordered from January 1, while parking sensors are available on select models. Vans ordered from June 1 will have a reversing camera as standard, while cab-chassis models will have it as an option.

There are many other options on offer for the van, including dual sliding rear doors ($1276); glass in the side sliding door ($528 for kerbside only; $2332 for dual glazed doors); air suspension ($3025); a pneumatic, heated driver’s seat ($248, also available for passenger at the same price but sees the removal of the third seat).
