Volkswagen Budd-e EV concept teased ahead of CES debut

A second teaser for the new Volkswagen Budd-e concept has been released ahead of its unveiling at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The new concept was first teased in December, with signs at the time pointing to a second go at the Volkswagen Bulli concept of 2011.

That earlier teaser revealed a tall new evolution of Volkswagen’s familiar grille design, featuring integrated LED headlights and the same parenthetic fog lights that feature on the carmaker’s recent electric offerings.

This latest preview, released as a short video, offers a new view of the front end, along with a glimpse of the concept’s LED tail lamps and first confirmation of the ‘Budd-e’ name - an obvious play on the word ‘buddy’, and a clear hint at its electric powerplant.

Volkswagen has previously revealed that it views electric motivation as a core component of its future technology plans, which could suggest that the Budd-e will move from concept to production in the near future.

Watch for the Budd-e to make its CES debut later this week.
