2015 Fiat Ducato recalled over ignition switch concerns

The Australian arm of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has issued a recall notice for the new 2015 Ducato van, over concerns that a fault with the ignition switch could result in serious injury or a fatality.

FCA reports that the Ducato’s ignition switch could unexpectedly move out of the ‘run’ position while driving.

If the fault occurs, a partial loss of electric power would follow and the engine would be turned off, disabling the power steering, power brakes and airbag deployment systems.

The recall affects 838 vehicles in the current Ducato range, which made its Australian debut in late 2014. Affected models were built between October 2014 and June 2015.

FCA Australia has confirmed it will contact owners of affected vehicles to arrange repair.
