2016 Subaru New Cars

Details of the new and updated Subaru models launching in Australia in 2016.

Subaru Levorg - mid 2016

Subaru’s all-new Levorg wagon will come to Australia in mid-2016, arriving as a companion to the small Impreza and WRX models.

The Levorg first debuted in late 2013 as a thinly-veiled concept, marching quickly to a Japan-market launch.

An introduction into the UK market followed in early 2015, and some months later it was at last confirmed for an Australian debut.

Here, the Levorg will play a mixed role, acting as a ‘replacement’ for the Liberty wagon that’s now available exclusively in jacked-up Outback form, while accompanying the turbocharged WRX sedan and satisfying fans of the similarly-sized fourth-generation Liberty GT wagon that was replaced by a larger generation in 2009.

Australian details are still to be confirmed, but in Japan the Levorg is offered with a 125kW/250Nm 1.6 litre turbo petrol engine and a WRX-sourced 221kW/400Nm 2.0 litre turbo petrol unit. Both are matched to a sports-tuned CVT automatic transmission.

Subaru Forester update - March

The newly updated Forester range, announced internationally in October, will hit Australia in or around early March, Subaru has confirmed.

Styling changes are light-on, with a revised grille and front bumper, and subtly tweaked lighting at both ends.

Local details are still to be confirmed, but the international update added new interior features and equipment, along with revisions to steering, transmission and insulation.

Subaru Forester tS - May/June

Perhaps the most exciting news for local 'Foz' fans in some time, the Forester tS sports variant is confirmed for Australia.

The local version of the tS will miss out on the Japanese market's 206kW heart, instead getting the same 177kW engine that drives the existing XT variant, but there's a handful of other compelling tweaks on the way.

Among the 22 factory tweaks and 28 STI enhancements are 19-inch BBS alloys and WRX STI-derived brakes, STI suspension, revised ECU and transmission control, and a host more.
