2016 Land Rover and Range Rover New Cars

Details of the new and updated Land Rover and Range Rover vehicles launching in Australia in 2016.

Range Rover SVAutobiography – March

In what may be seen as a pre-emptive strike against the likes of the forthcoming Bentley Bentayga and the Rolls-Royce SUV, the new flagship Range Rover SVAutobiography will headline the 2016 Range Rover line-up from March.

Crafted at the company’s Special Vehicle Operations technical centre in the UK, the SVAutobiography gains a host of dynamic and luxury additions over the existing Range Rover models.

The new variant’s supercharged 5.0-litre V8 is uprated to 405kW and 680Nm, or buyers can opt for the familiar 250kW/740Nm SDV8 diesel.

Two-tone exterior paint and polished chrome trim create a unique look on the outside, while cabin highlights include solid aluminium controls, power-deployable rear tables, deep-pile mohair carpet, a sliding boot floor made from aluminium and crafted veneer, and Event Seating, which comprises two Windsor leather-trimmed seats that stow in the luggage area and fold out.

Discovery Sport Dynamic – May

The Land Rover Discovery Sport Dynamic will become the new range flagship when it arrives in local showrooms in May.

Styling tweaks include new body-coloured exterior trim items for a sporting look along with contrasting black panels and a choice of 19- and 20-inch alloy wheels in dark satin grey or gloss black.

New under the skin is All Terrain Progress Control, which works to maintain specific low speeds – between 2 and 30km/h – during off-road activities, and includes a launch function, helping with take-off on varied surfaces ranging from ice to wet grass.

Gesture Tailgate has also been added to the range, allowing hands-free access to the boot by waving a foot below the bumper.

Evoque Convertible – July

Land Rover will rip the roof off the Range Rover Evoque in 2016 when it launches the new Convertible in July.

Four variants will be offered, with the most affordable of them price from $84,440 plus on-road costs.

Billed as “the world’s most capable all-season convertible”, the Evoque Convertible trades the regular SUV’s hardtop for a fabric roof that stows in 18 seconds and rises in 21 seconds at road speeds up to 50km/h.

With the roof up or down the boot measures 251 litres, while the cabin has seating for four.
