Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Evoque recalled

Jaguar Land Rover Australia has issued a recall notice for variants in all three of its Range Rover model lines, affecting 261 vehicles in total.

For the big Range Rover and its Range Rover Sport sibling, 21 models built between June 1-12 this year have been recalled for a defective seatbelt latch.

The carmaker’s local arm reports that the seat latch could be misaligned and may fail to engage properly, potentially leaving the occupant incorrectly restrained.

Affected Range Rover models are found inside the VIN range SALGA2VF2FA239176 to SALGA2VF0FA241024, while affected Sport models lie between SALWA2EF5FA538446 to SALWA2VF2FA628976.

For the Evoque, which makes up the bulk of the recall affecting 243 MY16 examples built between July 9 and October 16 this year, Jaguar Land Rover specifies a fault with the engine harness of diesel models.

The recall notice describes potentially insufficient clearance for the engine harness, which could cause contact with the Exhaust Gas Recirculation casing.

Contact between these two components could cause wires to wear through their protective sleeve, which may result in a range of vehicle failure modes and even an engine stall while driving.

Affected Evoque models are within the VIN range SALVA2AN4GH079010 to SALVA2BNXGH099325.

Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed it will contact owners of affected vehicles to arrange repair.
