Jeep Cherokee recalled for air-conditioning hose issue

Fiat Chrysler Australia has recalled the current ‘KL’ Jeep Cherokee SUV, over a potentially hazardous installation of the vehicle’s air-conditioning hose.

The carmaker reports that the hose may have been misrouted during production, which could lead to contact with the engine exhaust manifold.

If left too long, that contact could cause the hose to leak, resulting in smoke or a fire in the engine compartment.

The recall affects 1297 vehicles in the Cherokee range, specifically for the 2015 model year.

The carmaker has confirmed it will contact owners of affected vehicles to arrange repair.

This latest recall for the Cherokee follows one announced in September 2014 for a rear shock absorber fix, and another in August this year for a problem with the powered tailgate fitted to some models.
