ISUZU UTE AUSTRALIA has announced a new Space Cab variant of its D-MAX workhorse range, joining the existing dual-cab and single cab/chassis models.

Available in cab/chassis form only, the Space Cab D-Max SX 4x4 brings a more versatile and spacious cabin without sacrificing much in the way of cargo capacity.

The Space Cab's 2100mm total endorsed tray length gives it a very useful load area, and the low loading height thanks to its underslung rear leaf-springs should be a boon to tradesmen.

Power is derived from the same 3.0 litre turbodiesel four-cylinder used by the rest of the D-MAX range, which develops 120kW of power and 360Nm of torque.

The grunty common-rail diesel is backed up by a five-speed manual transmission linked to a dual-range transfer case with switchable 2WD/4WD and a limited-slip rear differential.

ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution is standard, as are dual airbags, electric windows, an MP3-compatible AM/FM CD tuner and airconditioning.

The 2010 Isuzu D-MAX Space Cab SX 4x4 cab/chassis wears a sticker price of $35,800 (before on-road costs), or $37,476 with an endorsed alloy tray fitted.

The D-MAX Space Cab is available nationwide, with 62 dealers now part of Isuzu's Australian distribution network.
