Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport unveiled in LA – UPDATE

Based on the street legal Cayman GT4, the Clubsport features a naturally aspirated 3.8-litre horizontally-opposed six-cylinder engine behind the passenger cell.

Tuned to deliver 283kW of power, the engine is hooked up to the rear wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and a race-bred mechanical locking differential.

The Cayman GT4 Clubsport's suspension package is taken and adapted from the setup used in 911 GT3 Cup, with struts up front and struts with transverse arms at the back.

There are 380mm steel brakes at each corner, with six-piston aluminium callipers for the front and four-piston units out the rear. The anti-lock braking system can configured through twelve different settings.

As you'd expect with a track-only special, the Cayman GT4 Clubsport features a stripped down interior, racing bucket seats with a six-point safety harness, and a welded-in safety cage.

According to Porsche, the Clubsport weighs 1300 kilograms and rides on 18-inch five-bolt forged wheels with Michelin 25/64-18 slicks up front and 27/68-18 tyres at the rear.

Update: Stephanie Weiser, a public relations specialist at Porsche Australia, told CarAdvice that the local arm won't offer the Cayman GT4 Clubsport as there already "100 active Porsche GT race cars participating in motorsport in Australia in everything from club level to highest professional level in Carrera Cup".
