2016 Mercedes-Benz SL facelift leaked online

Official press photos of the updated Mercedes-Benz SL have been leaked and published online ahead of the car's full debut at the 2015 Los Angeles auto show next week.

These pictures, and more, were obtained via unknown methods by Auto Motor und Sport and published on their websites today.

As we've seen in earlier spy photos and the official teaser image released earlier this week, most of this upgrade's visual changes have been wrought up front.

The 2016 SL sports new lozenge-style headlights, a completely new front fascia with an inverted grille shape and larger lower air intakes, a new bonnet, and a lightly modified front wings.

Along the sides, the sills have been restyled to stand out more.

At the rear of the car, the tail-lights are the same shape as before, but Mercedes-Benz has revamped the graphics and gone for an American-style all-red look.

There is also a new rear bumper with an updated diffuser-style treatment and a few extra slashes for good measure.

Inside, the changes seem to be limited to an upgraded infotainment system, and revised choices for finishes and materials.

Under the hood, the German publication expects the SL to keep with its current selection of V6, V8 and V12 motors, although some of these will now be paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Dynamic Select, which offers five different driving modes, and Active Body Control with tilt-curve functionality are also likely to be available in the revised SL range.

The facelifted Mercedes-Benz SL will be revealed and detailed in full next week at the Los Angeles auto show. Worldwide sales are predicted to begin around April 2016.
