Maserati Quattroporte GTS recalled for alternator fix

A number of new-generation Maserati Quattroporte GTS sedans have been recalled in Australia for an alternator wiring defect.

Maserati’s Australian distributor European Automotive Imports reports that the issue centres on a protective sealing cover for an electrical connection which may not be installed correctly.

Without the cover properly in place, the connection between the engine power cable and the start motor may become loose. If the connection makes contact with the engine block assembly, it could result in sudden engine stalls or an electrical fire.

The company has confirmed it will replace the alternator-starter wiring harness.

The issue, which has also affected nearly 1000 vehicles in the US, has seen 18 vehicles recalled in Australia.

The distributor has confirmed it will contact owners of affected vehicles.
