Affecting 207 vehicles built for the 2016 model year, the recall relates to a fault that could see the speedometer display an inaccurate speed reading.
The company says that the speedo may under-represent the actual road speed, with the error occurring between 100km/h and 180km/h.
This means that the driver may unknowingly exceed the speed limit, and the difference could also pose a hazard to the driver and other road users.
Volkswagen advises concerned owners to contact their nearest authorised Volkswagen dealer for repair. The carmaker’s local customer car phone number is 1800 607 822.
