For some, the arrival of the year's second last month signifies pre-Christmas panic. For others, though, it represents an important four weeks for men's health. Welcome to Movember.
For the unacquainted, Movember is all about raising awareness and funds for a raft of key men’s health issues, namely prostate and testicular cancer, mental health and physical inactivity.
Started in Fitzroy in Melbourne by Travis Garone and Luke Slattery back in 2003, Movember is now recognised and supported across Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK and the USA.
So what has it got to do with CarAdvice? That’s easy. Movember is a timely reminder that life isn't all cars all the time.
Raising awareness and funds for good causes is something we’re only too happy to be a part of – last year we helped Ford Australia auction off two FPV GT-F sedans to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
And when it involves growing moustaches for a month, who can say no?
As a result, not only are we backing Movember and their major partner Mini, we’re asking you to sign up too. And if you sign up and join the CarAdvice team (http://moteam.co/caradvice), the company bean counters will give a $25.00 monation to the first 100 people that do.
Since year one in 2003, there have been over five million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas join the cause, raising $685 million.
Remember, it’s all about fun and doing something easy for a great cause.
If you want to be a part of Movember 2015, join up today. Head to au.movember.com, sign up and either grow, move or donate – or even do all three. And become part of the CarAdvice team (http://moteam.co/caradvice) to receive an automatic $25.00 donation (if you’re one of the first 100 people anyway).
