Porsche Macan petrol variants recalled

The company put out a “precautionary recall” notice on its wildly popular compact SUV this weekend, citing “a possible leak in the low-pressure fuel line inside the engine compartment”.

The recall comprises 1302 Porsche Macans in Australia (788 units of the Macan S and 514 Macan Turbos), as part of a wider global campaign including 58,881 cars.

Porsche Australia says the line will be replaced on affected vehicles — owners of which are being contacted directly by their dealers. It is, says Porsche, a “purely precautionary measure”.

Only petrol versions (all six-cylinders) are affected, with the six-pot diesel engine in the clear.

According to Porsche, the problem was identified after a “precise examination of complaints and then immediately rectified in ongoing production”.

Workshop appointments will be arranged as quickly as possible. The work will take roughly one hour and will be carried out free of charge.

The Porsche Macan has proven to be wildly successful since it went on sale in Australia in Q2, 2014. This year the company has sold 1604 examples, which accounts for almost half its total sales here. It also has about 13 per cent market share in its segment.
