Lexus to preview future styling at Tokyo motor show

Lexus will unveil a secret new styling concept at this month’s Tokyo motor show, hinting at the next stage in its evolving styling language.

Production models in the growing Lexus range have revealed progressively polarising styling, introducing sharper lines and an ever-widening look to the brand’s ‘spindle grille’ design.

Lexus is keeping mum on exactly what we’ll see with its new concept. Some reports online suggest the company will preview its next-generation LS sedan, while others claim to have confirmed that a teaser for that model won’t appear until a later international event - possibly November’s Los Angeles motor show.

For now, Lexus has described the concept only as a “future vision of progressive luxury”. Precisely what it means by that… remains to be seen.

The company is known to be planning a large flagship coupe - essentially a segment rival to the BMW 6 Series or Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe - and although the production version has already been spied testing, we could first see it previewed as a Tokyo motor show concept.

A timely replacement for the small CT hatch could also be previewed in Tokyo, with the current model now into its sixth year on the global stage.

Watch for Lexus to reveal its hand in the coming weeks, and CarAdvice will be on the ground in Tokyo to bring you all the news.
