2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA facelift spy photos

The upcoming facelift for the Mercedes-Benz CLA has been captured by our spy photographers outside the company's research and development headquarters in Sindelfingen, Germany.

As with the recent update for the A-Class hatchback, the facelift is a blink-and-miss affair that even aficionados will have trouble picking out. The visual changes will seemingly be limited to revised head- and tail-light graphics, and reshaped bumpers.

Given how closely related the A-Class hatch and CLA "coupe" sedan are, it's reasonable to expect that the CLA update will feature similar revisions to the interior.

This means there will be new switches, upgraded graphics, revised trim and improved seats. Also, top-shelf models will be equipped with a larger 8.0-inch infotainment screen, and compatibility with the MirrorLink and Apple CarPlay smartphone mirroring technologies.

Under the bonnet, engine upgrades will likely mirror those in the A-Class, meaning that most drivetrains will have a few extra kilowatts and Newtown-metres to their name, while models equipped with a dual-clutch transmission should also gain launch assistance.

The safety tech list should be boosted by the addition of autonomous emergency braking and a driver drowsiness monitoring system that works at speeds up to 120km/h.
