Suzuki concept cars for 2015 Tokyo motor show revealed: Ignis Trail, Air Triser, Mighty Deck

According to the company the theme for its stand at the biennial Japanese show is "Suzuki Next 100", because the brand will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2020.

Hot on the heels of the reveal of the all-new Suzuki Ignis compact crossover ahead of the 2015 Tokyo motor show, the Japanese brand has unveiled a trio of fun-looking concept cars: the Suzuki Ignis Trail Concept, Suzuki Air Triser Concept and Suzuki Mighty Deck Concept.

As such, the brand claims that these concept models "represent proposals for products and technologies that give a sense of the company's preparations for ongoing success in the next 100 years".

The Mighty Deck is said to offer "new kinds of fun in the minicar segment", with the two door, almost ute-like body offering up an open load deck with a canvas top.

Suzuki claims this model - which appears to have a strong resemblance to the new Ignis - is designed to embody an "urban/outdoor" design.

While little else has been given away about the functionality of the car, the brand claims that the rear deck can be automatically raised and lowered to suit different purposes.

Whether or not this could point the way to a new Suzuki Mighty Boy - the tiny ute that was sold here in the 1990s - remains to be seen.

A more practical show car is the Air Triser, a compact mini-van (pictured at top) with a "private lounge".

Yes, the three rows of seats in this awesomely boxy (and sort-of Volkswagen Bulli-like) van can be configured to offer up a lounge space. There's 'relaxation mode', where the seats face each other, and 'lounge mode', where the seats form a U shape. Of course, you can also have a simple three-row setup for driving.

The concept is said to include a large display that extends from the B-pillar to the roofline, allowing for smartphone connectivity and acting as a media display.

And the most production-likely (at least in the the shorter term) is the Ignis Trail Concept. This apparently more outdoorsy version of the new Ignis is said to offer "even greater rough-road ruggedness".

It has larger wheels and body-protecting wheel-arch mouldings when compared to the regular Ignis, while the inside has seen a few colour adjustments, and trim changes, too.
