2016 Pagani Huayra R spy photos with QR code easter egg

CarAdvice reader has spied the 2016 Pagani Huayra R testing in Italy ahead of the car's likely announcement at next year's Geneva motor show.

Although limited to just 100 units, the Pagani Huayra coupe is likely to follow the Zonda's lead, where 'R' and Roadster versions were introduced closer to the end of its lifecycle.

The current generation Huayra made its debut in 2011 and features aggressive styling and those unique extended wing mirrors. The 'R' version spied here appears to sport a giant aero wing, a new front splitter, bigger exhaust outlets and a new rear splitter.

Despite the Huayra's lightweight chassis, it still falls short of other hypercars in its segment. It's powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12 engine, which is produced by Mercedes-AMG.

It produces 539kW of power and 1100Nm of torque, but is still less than the combined 708kW of power produced by the Ferrari LaFerrari — so the Huayra R will really need to step it up to compete with the best from Italy.

Aside from the extreme aero equipment on the car, it also features a QR code, which when scanned, takes you to a Pagani development website.

This web page features an image of the camouflaged car, along with a video saying that the car is coming soon.

The Huayra production limit has been reached (100 units), with the company set to have a Roadster version ready for debut in 2016.

What do you think about the radical styling and sharp angles of the Pagani Huayra R? Thanks to Will Anderson for sending the photos through.
