Mercedes-Benz G500 :: Brabus 4×4² revealed

Brabus has unveiled a tuned version of the Mercedes-Benz G500 4x4², which will be displayed at the 2015 Frankfurt motor show.

Under the bonnet, Brabus has fitted its B40-500 PowerXtra performance kit to the standard car's 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. The package includes a new control module that modifies the car's boost pressure control, and mapping for injection and ignition.

Output has been bumped up to 368kW of power and 710Nm of torque, which is an increase of 58kW and 100Nm over the regular car. Equipped with standard all-wheel drive and a seven-speed automatic transmission, the Brabus-tuned G500 4x4² is capable of dispatching the 0-100km/h standard in 6.9 seconds.

Top speed has been electronically limited top speed to 210km/h to, reportedly, protect the car's all-terrain tyres.

Other enhancements made by Brabus include a new stainless steel exhaust system, which features twin-tipped exhausts on either side of the car. A button on the steering wheel allows the driver to switch between the quieter Coming Home mode and the louder Sport setting.

According to Brabus, the changes it has wrought "make the SUV weighing more than three [tonnes] significantly more agile".

Visual differences extend to shiny new side sills, xenon headlights, underfloor lighting, and revised front and rear bash plates. There's also a gloss-finish carbon treatment for the grille, bonnet scoop and headlight surrounds.

On the inside, Brabus has reupholstered the seats in Mastik leather with arrow-shaped quilting, and fitted faux suede and carbonfibre trim around the cabin.
