2016 Audi S4 sedan spied without camouflage, Frankfurt debut expected

The extra-hot 2016 Audi S4 has been spied in sedan form once again, this time without a single shred of camouflage.

Although the example shown here is getting around with lower-specification wheels and no badges, the quad exhaust pipe leave little doubt as to its identity.

It remains to be seen if the grille and front bumper shown in these new spy photos will be swapped for darkened and more aggressive examples for the S4 model, although the mesh-covered intakes in the lower corners appear to be the final product.

The new 2016 Audi A4 made its online debut in June, shown in a range of specifications that each offer their own minor differences in styling, wheel design and exhaust layout.

The new S4 sedan and Avant wagon models are expected to be powered once again by the supercharged 3.0 litre V6 that drives the outgoing model, although output will reportedly increase to nearly 260kW, compared to 245kW in the engine’s current state.

And, as with the wider new A4 range, the new S4 models will roll on the Volkswagen Group’s MLB platform matrix for longitudinal engines, which will boost performance and handling through a handy weight loss regime.

An official unveiling date for the new S4 is still to be confirmed, although reports out of Europe suggest a Frankfurt motor show debut next month is on the cards.
