2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet interior revealed

The first official image of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet has uncovered the new flagship convertible’s lavish interior.

The image – which follows a revealing sketch outed last week – highlights an optional red leather cabin in a new silver S-Class Cabriolet, which is pictured standing alongside the most recent open-top S-Class that was sold between 1961 and 1971.

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet will be revealed in full at next month’s Frankfurt motor show, where it will become the sixth body style in the new S-Class family.

Mercedes-Benz Australia public relations manager Jerry Stamoulis today confirmed the S-Class Cabriolet was on track to reach our shores around the end of 2016.

With the Bentley Continental GT Convertible and the forthcoming Rolls-Royce Dawn in its sights, Mercedes-Benz says its goal in the development of the S-Class Cabriolet was to make “the most comfortable cabriolet in the world”.

Today the company has talked up the car’s climate comfort systems, spruiking its enhanced Aircap automatic wind protection system, Airscarf neck-level heating system, heated armrests, rear seat heating, and fully automatic climate control.

The German manufacturer is initially expected to release S500 and Mercedes-AMG S63 variants, powered by twin-turbocharged 4.6-litre and 5.5-litre V8s respectively.

A twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12 Mercedes-AMG S65 flagship is also expected further down the track.

All three variants are expected to make their way to Australia, all commanding a premium over their S-Class Coupe siblings that currently cost $319,000 in S500 spec, $409,000 for the S63 and $499,000 for the S65.
