Large Lexus coupe’s front-end photographed

Another photo has been published online showing a large Lexus coupe undergoing testing on public roads on the USA's west coast.

This photo was submitted to Steering News by reader Daniel, and it shows the front-end of a large coupe that's well down the path to being production ready.

Earlier this week automotive journalist Matt Farah published photos he took of a similar (or possibly the same) prototype vehicle in California.

Both cars have a long bonnet and tail, Lexus-style wing mirrors and the brand's now familiar slashes. Overall both vehicles bear a striking resemblance to the LF-LC concept car, which was first unveiled back in 2011.

Last year, Alain Uyttenhoven, vice president of Lexus Europe, stated the LF-LC was "90 to 100 per cent representative of [a new] production car" and that the new coupe will be released in 2016. No name has yet been announced for the vehicle, but rumours indicate that it may wear the LC badge or revive the SC nameplate.

As far as drivetrains go, a report published last year indicated that the new coupe will be offered with a choice of three drivetrains. At the bottom of the pile will be a 335kW 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8, shared largely with RC F.

The middle child will feature a hybrid drivetrain with around 373kW of power, while the top-spec F model will have a turbocharged V8 with roughly 447kW.
