The updated French compact hatch will be offered in two specification levels: the base Seduction trim and the high-grade Exclusive.
The Citroen C4 Seduction benefits from the inclusion of LED daytime running lights and a 7.0-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation, adding to the previously standard 16-inch alloy wheels, auto headlights and wipers, rear parking sensors and dual-zone climate control.
The Citroen C4 Exclusive adds 17-inch alloys, chrome grille highlights, front parking sensors, reverse-view camera, auto-dipping mirrors with memory, keyless entry and push-button start, blind-spot monitor, panoramic glass roof, electric parking brake and cloth/leather upholstery.
Under the bonnet of each sits a new turbocharged 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine familiar from the Peugeot 308. It produces 96kW and 230Nm, up markedly from the 88kW/160Nm naturally aspirated 1.6-litre previously found in the C4.
The old four-speed automatic makes way for a new six-speed unit, which Citroen claims changes gears 40 per cent faster, functions more smoothly and lower fuel consumption. The new drivetrain features stop-start technology, which is said to reduce fuel consumption by up to 25 per cent in city driving.
Acceleration from 0-100km/h should take about 10.9 seconds, making it more than 1.5 seconds quicker than the old 1.6-litre four-speed model, while combined cycle fuel consumption is expected to be measure about 5.0 litres per 100 kilometres (exact local specifications are not yet available), making it roughly 25 per cent more fuel efficient than before.
The previously available diesel option is gone, as is the base petrol manual.
Pricing details haven’t been revealed at this stage, and are unlikely to surface until the local launch of the updated Citroen C4 on August 4. Previously, the C4 Seduction petrol auto was priced from $24,990 before on-road costs. We’d suggest the new Seduction is likely to remain a mid-$20,000s proposition, while the Exclusive is likely to cost in the high-$20,000s.
