Porsche Pajun preview could come with Frankfurt-bound EV concept
Porsche may be struggling to meet explosive demand for its current range, but that’s not going to stop the brand from developing its future product plans.
Already the company is running hard up against its production capacity, and the local waiting line on models like the all-new Macan is wrapped around the block.
That predicament is understood to have seen Porsche put its planned ‘Pajun’ 5 Series rival on hold, but, according to reports out of Europe this week, September’s Frankfurt motor show could bring our first look at the new large sedan.
French magazine L’Automobile reports that Porsche plans to unveil a new concept in Frankfurt that will boast a four-door sedan design and an electrified heart.

This follows ongoing reports that the Pajun - so dubbed for its role as something of a ‘Panamera Junior’ - will be offered with a range of petrol, hybrid and pure-electric powertrains, suggesting that September’s reported unveiling could mark the model’s first appearance.
The Pajun is expected to debut in 2018 - if Porsche can find or create the production capacity for it - but it could be sometime before an all-electric model appears.
Speaking with Porsche owner’s magazine Christophorus in May, Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller said that electric vehicle battery technology is not yet as advanced as the brand’s customers would expect from their car.
