Win a paid job as a CarAdvice journalist and a trip to the Tokyo motor show

If you ask me, test-driving and reviewing the latest and greatest cars is the best job in the world. The automotive industry is an amazingly exciting place to be with hundreds of new cars launched yearly in a never-ending cycle of renewal and innovation that is best described as the antithesis of boredom.

If you have ever wanted to work as a motoring journalist and be part of the CarAdvice team, we are giving you the opportunity you have been looking for.

We are offering one lucky CarAdvicer the chance to experience first hand what it’s like to live and work as a car journalist by becoming the very first CarAdvice Correspondent.

The Correspondent is a three-month gig, where you will be paid to test drive and review new cars for CarAdvice. As part of this job you will be flown to the Tokyo motor show (courtesy of Mazda) to report live on all the latest industry news for our readers.

It’s is a part-time job, with flexible hours and you can work from anywhere in Australia, so there is no need to quit your day job or move home (unless you want to).

What are we looking for? We want someone who has a passion and knowledge for cars, knows how to write a good yarn and is comfortable presenting in front of a camera. We are looking for someone who will make a good ambassador for the CarAdvice brand. You will be working as part of the CarAdvice editorial team and traveling with us to Tokyo.

To be in the running for this opportunity, show us your talent by creating an owner car review and uploading it to The Correspondent website. We are accepting written reviews as well as video reviews. If you are keen, feel free to enter more than once.

The brief is to write or present on video a car review that shows your ability to properly assess a vehicle while being entertaining and factually accurate. To get an idea of what we are looking for, read some of our reviews or watch some of our videos.

Our panel of judges, which will include James Ward (CarAdvice Associate Publisher), Chris Atkinson (FIA Rally Driver) as well as Lauren Phillips (TV Presenter) and I (founder of CarAdvice), will be selecting the three finalists.

The finalists will be flown to Sydney for a finale on Saturday the 15th of August. As part of this audition you will be amongst the first people in Australia to test drive the brand new 2015 Mazda MX5.

The winner will be selected from the three finalists and will start their three-month paid job with CarAdvice on the 24th of August. The Tokyo Motorshow is in the last week of October.

The competition is open to all Australian residents, aged 18 or older who possess a valid Australian Driver’s Licence and Passport.

The public can vote for their favourite entry and go in the draw to win a $500 petrol voucher. The entry that receives the most votes will win the people’s choice award and receive a $1,000 petrol voucher.

We are really looking forward to seeing some great reviews from the CarAdvice community. So grab your car, grab your camera and start reviewing.
