Honda Accord and CR-V recalled over auto braking issue

The recall notice posted on the website of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission states that the automatic system could unexpectedly activate while operating the vehicle.

“In rare cases, the system may interpret certain roadside objects, such as metal fences or guardrails, as obstacles and apply emergency braking through the CMBS,” the statement said.

If the CMBS applies unexpected emergency braking force during normal operation, it could increase the risk of a crash. Drivers can override the system once it activates, though there is the potential for a initial hard brake.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted by mail. The dealer will conduct a software update to the CMBS.

Affected vehicles include 2013-2015 YM Accords and 2014-2015 YM CR-Vs. A full VIN list can be found here.
