The updated BMW 6 Series range arrives in Australia next month, seven months after its world premiere, with a long list of extra standard equipment accompanied by some minor price rises.
As before, all three body-styles kick off in 235kW/450Nm 3.0-litre turbo six-cylinder 640i spec, priced from $177,900 plus on-road costs (coupe), $184,900 (Gran Coupe) and $193,900 (convertible).
The Gran Coupe also comes in 230kW/630Nm 3.0-litre turbo-diesel 640d guise from $184,900. Also unchanged are the 412kW/680Nm 4.4-litre V8 650i versions in each body type, priced at $231,900 (coupe), $238,900 (Gran Coupe) and $247,900 (convertible).
Most of these prices are up $975 over their predecessors.
Meanwhile, the updated twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8-powered M6 family, with their 412kW and 680Nm punch, will launch at the same time. BMW has not yet revealed pricing updates, but expect them to stay close to the current — and rather exorbitant — $291,675 (coupe), $298,675 (Gran Coupe) and $307,675 convertible price points.
Expect confirmation of that before the end of this week.
The 2015 LCI update brings with its a reconfigured kidney grille and revised front and side aprons, said to emphasise the width of the body and its distinctive road presence. There’s also the inclusion of newly developed Adaptive LED headlights and four new paint options.
BMW also claims to have fettled the suspension and damper setup to invoke sharper handling, and added a new exhaust system to beef up the engine note. It’s keeping precise details under wraps for now.
BMW has also added a range of standard features such as the aforementioned Adaptive LED Headlights, plus DAB+ Digital Radio, Driving Assistant Plus (with active safety features such as active cruise control), Lane Change Warning, Parking Assistant, soft-closing doors and a surround-view camera.
The hardtops also get a new rear sun blinds, while the convertible picks up a new wind deflector.
BMW has sold 62 units of the 6 Series range this year to date, down from 72 at the same point last year.
