While the updated LandCruiser Prado's design remains generally unchanged from what we can tell, the range is expected to receive specification upgrades in the form of satellite navigation for the GXL and extra kit across the range.
As reported by CarAdvice last week, the brunt of the changes sit beneath the bonnet.
The first major change is the introduction of a new 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that is expected to be shared with the 2016 Toyota HiLux. The 2.8-litre diesel engine is expected to produce less power than the new HiLux, with the government compliance website detailing a maximum power output of 130kW at 3400rpm, down 2kW compared with the recently leaked HiLux engine details.
Also detailed on the website is evidence that Toyota's longstanding 4.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine will gain an extra 5kW of power, peaking at 207kW at the same 5600rpm.
Towing capacity remains at 2500kg with a braked trailer and 750kg with an unbraked trailer.
The upgraded Toyota Prado is expected to hit local showrooms by the third quarter of this year.
