Peugeot Vision Gran Turismo unveiled

The Peugeot Vision Gran Turismo is the latest virtual vehicle to pay homage to Gran Turismo, the long-running PlayStation car racing game.

According to Peugeot, its Vision Gran Turismo vehicle is so low — it's just 1040mm tall — that it doesn't need any aerodynamic aids, such as prominent wings or active flaps.

The Peugeot Vision Gran Turismo is reportedly propelled by a 3.2-litre turbocharged V6 engine that's mounted behind the passenger cell. All of the V6's 652kW of power is transmitted to the ground via six-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel system.

Said to weigh just 875 kilograms, the Peugeot Vision Gran Turismo is capable of racing from 0-100km/h in 1.73 seconds.

The car rides on 22-inch alloys at the front and 23-inch rims at the rear. Hiding behind five-spoke-style alloy wheels is, what's claimed to be, a ventilated Brembo braking package with carbon discs. At the front the discs measure 380mm across, while at the rear they have a diameter of 337mm.

The Peugeot Vision Gran Turismo will be available as a free, drivable in-game download shortly.

It's not known whether Peugeot's unique contribution to the Gran Turismo series will remain strictly virtual or, like the Infiniti Vision GT and Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo before it, have a real life counterpart.
