Honda Concept D revealed in Shanghai

At the 2015 Shanghai auto show, the Tokyo-based company revealed the Honda Concept D, which apparently previews a future model that's currently under development.

The model that Honda is currently cooking up will apparently be a top-of-the-range SUV that will be exclusive to the Chinese market.

Honda claims that the, as yet-unnamed-SUV, will offer "high-quality driving and a spacious cabin". The company has yet to offer any specifics about the car's dimensions, powertrains or, even, a glimpse of its interior.

When the production version of the Concept D goes on sale, it won't be the only exclusive-to-China model in the brand's range.

The company already markets the Crider sedan, which sits somewhere between the Accord and Civic, as well as the larger Sprior sedan.

All foreign car makers operating in China must work with a local joint venture partner. Some companies, like Honda and Volkswagen, operate multiple partnerships.

Sometimes models are divided between the various joint venture companies, at other times they're shared around evenly. The production version of the Concept D will be produced by both of Honda's Chinese joint ventures: Guangqi Honda and Dongfeng Honda.
